Uva Province, the second least populous province in Sri Lanka, is divided into Badulla and Monaragala districts, featuring the Gal Oya hills and Central highlands as its primary uplands. The Mahaweli and Manik rivers serve as the principal waterways. Uva’s Ceylon black tea, with a rich history of creation, stands out as a frontier in tea manufacturing. The tea produced in Uva embodies a thoughtful blend, exuding exotic fragrance and harmony with nature. Isolated from the rest of the island, Uva teas showcase exceptional concentration and stand out in the league. Once experienced, the mellow smooth flavour of Uva tea becomes unmistakably recognizable. The exposure to both the Northwest and Southwest monsoons imparts a distinct, identifiable character and exotically fragrant flavour to the tea grown in this region.
